Joe Ostman carted off field at Eagles training camp practice

Not ideal.

For the second time in two days, an Eagles player that was having a great training camp was carted off the field at practice.

On Saturday, it was Eagles linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill who went down with a knee injury. On Sunday evening at Lincoln Financial Field, it was Joe Ostman who went off after getting hurt during a special teams drill.

Ostman was holding his knee while down on the ground for a bit before Doug Pederson ultimately called for the cart to come out. A large number of Eagles players — including Carson Wentz — came up to Ostman before the cart went back to the locker room.

Yikes.

Losing Ostman to injury would be a bummer; he’s been having a great camp. The coaching staff has even been mixing him in with the first team defense in order to find a role for him. He was looking like a good bet to make the team’s 53-man roster.

Should Ostman’s injury prove to be significant, the Eagles could be entering the season with the following defensive ends: Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Vinny Curry, Josh Sweat, and Shareef Miller. The main starters are still in tact but there are questions about the team’s depth ... and we all know Jim Schwartz likes to heavily rotate his pass rushers.

Stay tuned for more updates on Ostman’s status.

In other injury news, Shelton Gibson also got banged up in Sunday’s practice. He was on the field getting looked at by trainers before walking off.
