The annual blue and white scrimmage gave us a lot to chew on.
Sunday marked a significant day for the Dallas Cowboys as far as the 2019 season is concerned. It was their annual blue and white scrimmage during training camp.
There was no practice for Amari Cooper, Zack Martin, Sean Lee, or Cody Wichmann, but we did see a lot from the guys that did take part. You can always re-watch the stream on DallasCowboys.com or any of the team’s social channels, but here’s what stood out.
Xavier Woods had an interception... shocker
The most impressive player during my week in Oxnard was the guy making plays on Sunday (hopefully we’re saying that sentence a lot), Xavier Woods. He’s looking great.

Zack Martin’s back might be something that stays a thing for a while
Speaking to the DallasCowboys.com digital team during the broadcast of the scrimmage, Stephen Jones provided an update on Zack Martin’s back situation.
He noted that the team is trying to be conservative with their star players which is obviously smart practice but he did add that the team’s doctors feel like with the proper rehab they’re hopeful that Zack can be alright “over the next couple of weeks.”
Mike White had himself a good day
Near the end of practice Mike White shined on a final drive. Cooper Rush has been getting work ahead of him, but with moments like these the former Western Kentucky signal-caller could be putting a dent in that.

It was not a good day for Jon’Vea Johnson
JVJ had the work as the team’s fourth receiver on Sunday (Jalen Guyton truthers sigh), but he had a few drops and didn’t manage to take much advantage of the opportunities.

The final receivers on this team will be very interesting.
Tony Pollard is continuing to impress
Will McClay threw some kudos Pollard’s way during an interview when practice ended, and it’s probable that Pollard caught those, too. He’s a machine.

This is going to be a special player.
It might be time to worry a little bit more about Brett Maher
One year ago Brett Maher was on his way to taking Dan Bailey’s job. After an up and down season with the Cowboys, his job was hardly safe. He didn’t help himself on Sunday.

The Cowboys played in 13 games last season that were decided by one score.
Reggie Davis still looks good, but he had a bad moment

This doesn’t take away from Davis’ strong camp to this point. He’s a legitimate contender for the 53-man roster.
