Veteran NFL writer Don Banks died in his sleep Sunday morning at the age of 56. The Las Vegas Review-Journal, which recently hired Banks to cover the NFL for them, announced the news in an article published Sunday afternoon. Banks was in Canton to cover the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions for the weekend. His first story for the Review-Journal was published on Sunday about what the Browns learned while being on “Hard Knocks.” Somewhat eerily, one of his last tweets was about the death of Raiders great Cliff Branch. Banks is familiar for many NFL fans due to his longtime work at Sports Illustrated. He spent 17 seasons with SI before leaving to write for The Athletic-Boston the last three seasons. According to the Review-Journal, Banks is survived by his wife and two sons.
