The Kansas City Chiefs public relations department has released the team’s first depth chart for the 2019 NFL season:

Things that stand out:
- Deon Yelder is listed as the team’s No. 2 tight end over Blake Bell. That makes sense based upon Chiefs head coach Andy Reid’s comments prior to training camp, but from what we have seen and heard, Bell probably has a slight edge at this point.
- John Lovett is listed as both the sixth tight end and second fullback, though I don’t this necessarily spells trouble for the TE2 candidates or Anthony Sherman. Lovett has been working with the running backs, but he can catch and even throw. Lovett profiles as an H-back, a position not available on the classic depth chart.
- Based upon camp rep order, I’m surprised to see Kyle Shurmur listed behind Chase Litton. Shurmur has typically taken the reps after Chad Henne up in St. Joseph.
- Former cornerback Tremon Smith is buried at the running back position.
- Breeland Speaks is listed ahead of Emmanuel Ogbah at left defensive end, though Ogbah sees many more reps with the first team. Speaks has been working inside and outside primarily with the second team.
- Kendall Fuller is not the starting left cornerback, but rather the nickelback, a position not available on the classic depth chart. Charvarius Ward and Bashaud Breeland are the starting cornerbacks on the outside in the base defense. Keith Reaser is still listed on the depth chart even though he’s done for the season with a torn Achilles.
- Although Smith is listed as the starting kick returner, a position he served last year, this is probably a role that eventually goes to Mecole Hardman or Byron Pringle.
