Grab another cup of coffee, it’s time for ball, and injuries related to such.
Welcome back to another edition of the NFL injury news dump, a brand new tradition to be beloved across the league by fans, bloggers and bettors alike.
For the Lions, health is crucial as they prepare to line up against a Kanas City Chiefs squad and ZA WARUDO Patrick Mahomes. Unfortunately, the usual suspects among the NFL insiders are bringing bad news to bear for the Detroit kitties.
Cornerback Darius Slay has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport it is very likely that he will be a game-time decision. Slay’s status has been trending downwards for a while, and there’s serious concern he might not be able to play against the Chiefs.
Wide receiver Danny Amendola is also dealing with a chest injury and could be a game-time decision as well. His loss could dramatically impact the receiving options for the Lions, especially given his play in the first quarter of the season.
#Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hip), a late add to the report, is expected to play today, source said. Meanwhile, WR Danny Amendola (chest) will have a much harder time getting on the field and CB Darius Slay (hamstring) is a true game-time decision. Slay will go down to the wire.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds onto the Slay saga, claiming that his sources tell him that there’s “a certain sense of pessimism” regarding his game-time status.
Schefter also had some additional notes regarding Matthew Stafford. As noted, Stafford is expected to play, but it sounds like the Lions quarterback is dealing with a serious amount of pain and such injuries have a possibility to be exacerbated mid-game.
Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford is expected to play vs. Chiefs, but is dealing with a lot of hip pain, per sources. The pain got worse as the week went on. As one source said: “This is the closest he’s probably been to not playing, but he’s planning on going.”

We will keep an eye on all these scenarios and more as the official injury reports are posted later on Sunday.
