Minneapolis, MN 10/3/99 Vikings vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Randy Moss is congratulated by receiver Jake reed, right, as he is lifted in the air by tight end Carlester Crumpler after Moss scored his first touchdown of the fgame, early in the first quarter

There was the usual flurry of activity as teams trimmed the rosters

Merry Monday Tuesday, Vikings faithful!

There was a lot of shuffling and shifting going on over the weekend. Some moves were expected, and there were some surprises. I didn’t expect them to make a move at the punter position. After the Kaare experiment ended (what a horrible waste of a draft pick, amiright Mark?) with Kaare’s release, I figured the team was going to roll into the season with what they have, but I figured incorrectly. I wasn’t shocked at Treadwell’s release. I know the kid has talent, and I hope he does well when he’s not playing against the Vikings. He was a first-round pick who didn’t produce with his original team. The Vikings followed his release by signing...........a first-round pick who didn’t produce with his original team. Doctson has talent as well, so let’s hope the change of scenery will be what he needs to make it click. He’ll be behind two very good recievers on the depth chart, but hey, if he can play the part of Jake Reed, I won’t complain.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Ebrodzy posted Skoldiers - 055 - Vikings schedule preview.

Wludford weighed in with his Vikings 2019 Season Predictions.

Chris announced that sign-ups begin today for Daily Norseman Pick-’Em and Survivor leagues.

Chris shared the news that the Vikings signed Josh Doctson.

Other Vikings/NFL news, other sports news, and random oddities and annoyances:

It’s September 3rd, do you know where your running backs are? The Chargers don’t, and the head coach isn’t going to go looking for him. Melvin Gordon is still abstaining from team activities, per ESPN.

The Cowboys have also misplaced their running back. Ezekiel Elliot is still absent as the Cowboys prep for week one, per the Sporting News.

ESPN has a list of the cuts made by all 32 teams.

Keppler came through with a clutch hit in the 8th, which was all the team needed for a 4-3 comeback win, as well as a series win against the Tigers. The win gave the Twins a solid five-and-a-half game lead over the Indians in the AL Central.

We come to today’s media selection:

The regular season is FINALLY here. If you weren’t already pumped, see if this helps. Enjoy!

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • Leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags\
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t tip the cows don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the rocky mountain oysters.
