Broncos Country is in search of answers

No matter how crazy the answers are, Bronco fans will listen.

The Denver Broncos are in a strange position. After more than 30 years of sustained success, the Broncos have been mired in a slump that has lasted longer than anyone could have anticipated. It has been such a difficult journey for fans that some people are grasping at straws to find ways to fix the problems.

I give you exhibit A, Big Al, Alfred Williams. The former Bronco, Super Bowl champion, and longtime sports talk radio host in Denver joined Ryan Edwards and Benjamin Albright on Broncos Country Tonight to discuss the issues surrounding Denver.

Big Al is one of my favorite characters from those back-to-back Super Bowls in 1998 and 1999. However, he seems to be struggling to find solutions for the team’s quarterback issues. Even Ryan and Ben seemed exasperated at some of the things that Al was saying.

First, he talked about a need to see Drew Lock, and if he can’t prove himself to be the guy in 8 games, they need to move on. He won’t have a chance to play 8 games, so that’s out. Then he got really weird.

Big Al believes that the Broncos should trade Von Miller straight up for Cam Newton. I know I can’t agree with that. Von Miller already broke Cam Newton.

Al’s reasoning was a stretch. His claim about Newton being young enough to have around for 7 or 8 years was his best argument, but not the current form of Cam. He also claims that Newton has had success championship situations. Except that one game against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, Al.

I love Big Al, but this season has many of us shaking our heads, and searching for answers. Sometimes the answers we find are wrong.
