A second-time stud and dud.
The Atlanta Falcons hit rock bottom after giving up 53 points against the Houston Texans last week, and they’ve done nothing to pull themselves any higher than that this week. Atlanta traveled to Arizona and lost to a Cardinals team they have no business losing to. Once again, they got out-coached.
I’d personally suggest shifting more of your focus toward fantasy football to help get something out of this football season, because the Falcons clearly aren’t doing anything. The good news is that the fantasy points were plentiful in this high-scoring game.

This article will look at things strictly from a fantasy football perspective (that means looking at nothing other than purely statistics). Here are Atlanta’s fantasy stud and fantasy dud from Week 6’s defeat against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Stud - Matt Ryan
Stat Line - 356 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 2 carries, 7 rushing yards: 30.94 standard league/PPR points
Austin Hooper garnered serious consideration for his third “stud” designation after tallying a game-high 117 receiving yards and a touchdown, but Matt Ryan stuffed the stat sheet too much for it to be anybody else.
Ryan was absolutely sublime all afternoon against Arizona’s porous defense, and he scored more fantasy points than any other quarterback through Sunday’s games in Week 6. The four passing touchdowns were a season high, and the yardage was the second-best mark of the season for the Boston College alum.
Ryan has now had a 30+ fantasy performance in back-to-back weeks, as Atlanta’s abomination of a defense continues to make it a necessity for him to pass the ball at a high clip. Ryan has yet to pass for fewer than 300 yards this season, and he hasn’t gone a single game without throwing for multiple touchdowns.
Keep firing Matt Ryan up in fantasy no matter the matchup. The game script will continue to favor big fantasy numbers as long as Dan Quinn is this team’s head coach.
Dud
Mohamed Sanu - 3 catches, 29 receiving yards: 2.9 standard league points, 5.9 PPR points
With the number of weapons Atlanta possesses, there will always be someone who doesn’t get fed the ball enough, and Sanu drew the short straw this week.
Hooper was fantastic, Julio Jones went for over 100 receiving yards, Calvin Ridley had a touchdown, and Devonta Freeman went for over 100 yards from scrimmage and scored. Sanu, who has played himself into someone worth rostering, ended up getting lost in the shuffle.
While Sanu excels in his role with the team, weeks like this one remind us that he’s nothing more than the fourth option in this passing game. Unless you’re really struggling for a starting wide receiver (because of injury or bye week), then Sanu should stay on your bench.
