It’s week seven of the 2019 NFL season and the New York Jets are home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the hated New England Patriots.
The Jets come into this game hurting, with a bunch of offensive linemen and linebackers out with injuries. The Jets are so banged up at linebacker that there is legitimate concern over how they will deal with any in game injuries at the position. In addition, tight end Chris Herndon remains out, as his 2019 season is proving to be a nightmare.
The injuries along the offensive line would be extremely concerning if the line had not already been performing at a practice squad level. All the new starters will likely add up to Sam Darnold running for his life on more than a few occasions, but he is getting used to that with this atrocious Jets offensive line.
The Patriots also come into the game banged up and missing key players, including wide receiver Josh Gordon and a couple of running backs and tight ends. Nonetheless, this is still the defending Super Bowl champions we are talking about, and it will not be an easy assignment for the Jets. Until the Jets are able to routinely defend their home field and manage to come up with wins against quality opponents like the Patriots at home, this team cannot be considered a serious contender. We’ll see if they can begin to make that transformation tonight behind budding star Sam Darnold.
It’s the Jets and the Patriots on Monday Night Football tonight. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
