Hump Day Open Thread

Good Morning!

Gone Fishin is busy with work, so I’ll be posting the thread today until Monday. I go back on service tomorrow so links etc. will get shorter depending on what time I get done with work. Also, I’m getting apathetic about this current Vikings team, I’m probably one more head shaking offensive performance from tuning out completely until draft season. Will I do that? Absolutely. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and post a gif, you’ll get lots of recs and what the heck, it’s Wednesday.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Kirk Cousins: The Bears game film by Wludford.

Skoldiers - 060 - Windy City Washout hosted by Ed and Mike.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com The “Good Morning Football” crew discusses the state of the Vikings’ offense after four weeks of the season.

Game Preview: Vikings at Giants.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger breaks down DE Danielle Hunter’s first quarter takedown of Bears QB Mitch Trubisky during Sunday’s game in Chicago.

From Matthew Coller at SkorNorth.com the case for and against a Cousins bounce back.

League news:

Sorting out NFC after September chaos: Bears up, Falcons down.

Browns, Lions, Panthers among teams you must take seriously.

Jerry Rice thinks Larry Fitzgerald can pass him on receptions list.

Khalil Mack on playing Raiders: ‘It’s no big deal to me

We come to today’s media selection: More Cowbell - SNL

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waiter and embrace the mediocrity.
