Draft Prospects Propel Title Conteders Further
There is nothing shocking about Alabama or Ohio State winning a football game. Both teams are elite and their biggest shot at losing doesn’t come until the playoffs. However, when they are dominating conference competition, it is hard not to take notice how the games are being one. Alabama posted 59 points on Ole Miss on Saturday while Ohio State nearly blanked Nebraska in a 48-7 win. Each (margin of) victory would not be possible without notable performances from draft prospects.
Alabama has only recently turned into a team that can throw all over the place. With Tua Tagovailoa at the helm, Bama has been a dangerous passing team. Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III are fairly seen as top tier wide receiver prospects and have been favorite targets of Tagovailoa. However, it was DeVonta Smith that was the human highlight reel against Ole Miss. Smith had 11 catches for 274 yards and FIVE touchdowns. Four touchdowns came in the FIRST HALF.

Smith was dominant after the catch, down the field and at the catch point. He showed off a complete skill set against Ole Miss and made a case that he deserved some spotlight even if he is sharing the field with a handful of stars. NFL teams are officially on notice.
Far north, Ohio State was demolishing the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a primetime game. The Buckeyes saw dominance across the board from their talented roster, but it was notable how big of an impact Chase Young made.

Young had a sack, a forced fumble and pressure all day that ruined the Nebraska game plan. He is an every down defender who is elite against the pass and is a very good run defender. Young is growing into one of the best defensive line prospects in the last few years. He is the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft unless a quarterback needy team is sitting there. No question.
