Open thread: What is the Lions’ weakest unit right now?

NFL: Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Lions as a whole are popping off right now — some units, however, continue to struggle.

The Detroit Lions are flying high right now, standing at a formidable 2-1-1 following their bye week and getting the chance to play for the divisional lead in a huge game against the Green Bay Packers next Monday.

The solid start, and even their neck-and-neck performance in a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4, caught many national media members by surprise as the Lions’ solid offseason flew under many radars. Not everything is perfect, though.

Question of the day: What is the Lions’ weakest unit right now?

My answer: The offensive line.

Individually, each player has held their own, and the interior offensive line has been very good the last couple weeks. What irritates me, however, is the coaching staff’s persistence on rotating three guards in the game unnecessarily. It messes up chemistry among the line, and no other team does it.

Likewise, many of you will point to the two consecutive games without a sack, and that, of course, is a great thing. The run game is still in shambles though, and Kerryon’s spin moves and jump cuts can only get him so far if he’s getting ambushed in the backfield every play.

Your turn.
