Rams-49ers Thursday injury reports

In a must-win game on Sunday, it would be nice to have these two star players healthy.

The Los Angeles Rams (3-2) are heading into Week 6 — against the 4-0 San Francisco 49ers — with serious concern that they’ll be without key starters on both sides of the ball. Running back Todd Gurley is currently day-to-day with a thigh contusion, and cornerback Aqib Talib hasn’t practiced this week due to a rib injury.

Both players sat out on the initial (Wednesday) practice session, and both ended up as “DNP” on Thursday’s report. The Rams didn’t actually practice, instead holding a walk-thru and making the following statuses an “estimation based on what participation for a full practice would have been.

Rams’ staff writer, Stu Jackson, noted that high winds were an issue today.

The Rams held an indoor walkthrough instead of a full practice today b/c of high winds in the Thousand Oaks area. As a result, HC Sean McVay said it was tough to provide an update on RB Todd Gurley and CB Aqib Talib.

McVay did say, provided he had to guess, that both Gurley and Talib would’ve been spectators today. Not encouraging.

Earlier today, via press conference, DC Wade Phillips stated that, should Talib be unable to go on Sunday, that Troy Hill would step into a starting role. “I think he’s a really good young player,” said Phillips.

Stay tuned. The 49ers have had their fair share of disappointing injury news this week, but it appears the Rams may be without a few key players of their own.

As for the 49ers, here’s how their injury report looked on Thursday. We already know they’ll be without FB Kyle Juszczyk and offensive tackles Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey.
