Thank you, E!

Broncos Country can’t thank E enough for what he brought to the Broncos in his a little over five seasons in Denver.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

When Emmanuel Sanders takes the field today, we’re in for a bizarre sight.

For the first time since 2014, he won’t do so in a Denver Broncos uniform. Earlier this week, the veteran receiver was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. At least Sanders won’t do so in the No. 10 (he’ll wear No. 17 for the 49ers). Another fall-out of this move is only four players remain from the Broncos team that won Super Bowl 50.

On the MHR Radio Podcast (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify), Adam Malnati and I started the show by thanking Sanders for what he brought to the Broncos. Whenever he was on the field, you knew Sanders would bring 100 percent and do what was needed to help his team. He’s one of those players who leaves it all on the field. It clearly didn’t go as he or the organization wanted the last two seasons, and it all came to a head this season. Frustration over use and direction of the team proved too much to overcome.

That doesn’t change the fact Sanders was an integral part of the Broncos offense in his five-plus seasons in Denver and a big reason the team won its third Lombardi Trophy. Broncos Country will also see his impact in how the younger guys step into his leadership role over the remainder of the season.

Players moving on is nothing new. Sanders isn’t the first, and he won’t be the last — perhaps even this season. When they play a big part in the success of the franchise, it’s a little tougher for some to accept. We wish them nothing but the best and hope for their continued success.

We also thank them for what they did to help the Broncos win and to better the community.

Thank you, E!

Stage set for young Broncos players to assume bigger leadership roles
The Broncos refuse to use the word rebuilding. Their roster and record scream otherwise. It's time for Phillip Lindsay, Courtland Sutton and, when he returns, Bradley Chubb to make this their team. I watched something similar play out with the Rockies more than a decade ago.
