"We just have to stay focused and execute." Jonathan Allen speaks to the media about the mentality going into week six. pic.twitter.com/CoqPhV7RJR
— Washington Redskins (@Redskins) October 9, 2019
Jon Allen said practice was a little faster tempo today. A few more plays in a little less time.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 9, 2019
After the end of today’s Redskins practice, interim coach Bill Callahan put 10 minutes on the clock as a “developmental period” for each position group to use to work with the backup/younger players.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) October 9, 2019
Bruce Allen advocated for and ultimately brought Bill Callahan to DC. Allen's paid Callahan 'OC' money to be OL coach for years. Allen also told Sean McVay he couldn't bring Callahan with him to LA. Callahan is Bruce's guy through and through.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 9, 2019
In his first couple days as HC, Callahan has harped on getting back to fundamental football.
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) October 9, 2019
From the way the team practices, film sessions, Callahan wants to get back to a "foundation of fundamental football" heading into Miami.
---Stretching in practice was led by captains.
Callahan on why he didn’t make any changes to the defensive staff. Said it’s about fairness. Give all coaches a chance to prove themselves as team aims for a turnaround.

Slow News Day week six. @ryenarussillo and I start talking about Delta movies, the Pats and the Redskins and it somehow leads to us showing a photo of him, @notthefakeSVP, and Colt McCoy from a decade ago. An all-time episode. pic.twitter.com/OLDerYDVyE

Great job summarizing day 1 of the Bill Callahan era by @ChrisLingebach. https://t.co/XZzCGrtFfs
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 9, 2019
Just turned on Bill Callahan's press conference in time to hear him say his offense is more about rush attempts than yards-per-carry. He also said if you run the ball more times than your opponent you'll probably beat them. pic.twitter.com/qiAF0W8Kpc
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 9, 2019
Callahan: "That's one of the statistics that we all look at is rush attempts and a lot of times, your rush attempts and completions, if you have more than an opponent, really you're in good shape to win the football game."
— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) October 9, 2019
Does he not get the correlation/causation thing here?
I think the context of when they run the ball matters though. If you get to the 4th Q with a lead, then you can go from 15 rushes to 25 rushes easily, but those extra 10 rushes won’t win the game, they’ll kill the clock. It was the passing that got the lead
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 9, 2019
If Bill Callahan wants to run the ball, then the Redskins are going to need AP to be AP in Week 6.https://t.co/JjpXE0ccsJ

Roll call.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) October 9, 2019
Three quarterbacks and zero walking boots.
Vernon Davis present. No Jordan Reed.
Brandon Scherff stretching.
Hurt it Sunday trying to punch a ball out. Remember seeing it live. Stayed in the game.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 9, 2019
Was a full participant in the practice, but he was listed on the injury report with a hand injury. https://t.co/WAZkeh4VkQ
ICYMI: Rex Ryan said he would take the Redskins head coaching job. https://t.co/uEdcLPtMmX

We're about to talk with Bill Callahan. On the way we could see the players running sprints at the end of practice. That's different.

From NFL Now: The #Redskins are expected to start QB Case Keenum, meaning interim coach Bill Callahan's first move is to take a step away from former coach Jay Gruden's choice at QB. pic.twitter.com/kKKnp6Cgxh
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 9, 2019
Bill Callahan said he’ll wait until the end of the week to make the announcement of who the starting QB in Miami will be. He explained that the team is assessing the health of the QBs.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) October 9, 2019
They can start whomever they want, but McCoy has been a good person for them. Stayed prepared...Etc. You don't have to like him as a QB, but can respect what he's done to try and get ready to play. Do know was very frustrating for him. Would have been for anyone.
— John Keim (@john_keim) October 9, 2019
Lol someone already got a phone call. https://t.co/AzGtFsJUIp
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) October 9, 2019
So silly and so obvious that he got a call and was told he would be looking at all 3
— Blair Smith (@blairsmith57) October 9, 2019
Colt won the job in camp. Football is supposed to be a meritocracy.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 9, 2019
Is Colt Jay’s guy? Yes. Is the organization trying to move on from Jay? Yes.
Colt also was loyal to the org for 6 years through A LOT of stuff. Benching him now is wrong for football and non football reasons.
Case Keenum on Gruden exiting: “Football is a great game, but it’s a hard business. I’ve had a lot more hard days than great days, but that makes the great days worth it.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 9, 2019
Dwayne Haskins not playing right now is disconcerting explainable. If he's still isn't ready enough to play in a month? That would be alarming.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 9, 2019
Sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew is on the field already. No. 15 picks who tore up power conferences should be playable as rookies.
His struggles are expected from a rookie 5th round pick that was thrown into a major role in this defense.
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) October 9, 2019
But, his performance in the run game has really impressed me. He has the third most run stops in the NFL with 14. His play here was one of my favorites. pic.twitter.com/r43bRiQXwi
He's more than held his own in the run game, but teams will continue to attack him in the passing game and in the NFL his performance in the passing game is far more important. I'm excited to watch him develop into hopefully the Redskins starting LB for years to come. #HTTR
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) October 9, 2019
He’s a backup playing a starters role. We skins fans get in trouble with falling in love with these types ala mason foster, will Compton etc . Draft a starter next year

Adding to this: As we walked off the field, Foster was going through exercises where he slowly carried the sled a few yards. Think Alvin Kamara but without the Jeep and literal baby steps. LB slowly, but surely, making progress following his ACL tear this May.

This is not a joke: Dan Snyder’s private jet was spotted in Pittsburgh yesterday. Rumors about him wanting to acquire Steelers’ HC Mike Tomlin via trade.

Fact: Worked for the team for 7 years in the retail division. They fired all my bosses and Tanya Snyder became my boss. I was added an additional 7 stores of responsibility to run without any extra pay. I dealt directly with her and she referred to her own husband as Mr. Snyder.

Lot of talk of Redskins next stadium being 65K seats. If so, would fall below NFL requirement of 70K fixed seats for a Super Bowl, according to bid docs. So I guess there's no way for Washington to get a Super Bowl.

There is a guy in line to get into the ballpark in Atlanta right now, who is three people back at the Will Call window right now and he knows the Braves are down 10-0. Do you get your ticket and go inside and eat or just go home?
