Can the Cardinals topple an undefeated division rival?
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Week 9 of the 2019 NFL season kicks off tonight, and with it, we get to see one of the last remaining undefeated teams on prime time. The San Francisco 49ers will travel to face the Arizona Cardinals in a battle of NFC West foes, though their seasons have differed quite a bit.
The 49ers are a perfect 7-0, and they look dominant. The highlight of their team is the defense, led by Nick Bosa putting on a tremendous rookie campaign. Bosa has seven sacks on the year, including adding three last week in a stomp over the Carolina Panthers. Speaking of three, that is also the total number of rushing touchdowns Tevin Coleman had against the Panthers. Despite some injuries between Coleman, Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert, and Jeff Wilson Jr., the 49ers’ rushing attack has been one of the league’s best, and they will look to stay hot against Arizona.
After starting the season with a tie and three losses, the Cardinals have bounced back a bit, although they still sit last in the division. They rattled off three-straight victories over the Bengals, Falcons, and Giants, although last week’s loss to the Saints dropped them to 3-4-1. The biggest question for the Cardinals this week will be the how recently-acquired Kenyan Drake fares in a starting role. Traded from the miserable Dolphins, Drake will have to fill the shoes of David Johnson and Chase Edmonds, both of whom are ruled out. He fill face a tough task against a stout 49ers defense.
