Which is the better “drive” — The Drive or The Drive II?

David Treadwell - Denver Broncos

For Broncos fans, this is like choosing your favorite dessert, you can’t make a wrong choice. Either way, both are two of the most incredible moments in Broncos and NFL history.

Good morning, Broncos Country?

Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: Picking one of these two is like choosing your favorite dessert. You can’t go wrong.

On the MHR Radio Podcast (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify), I go over the history for that week’s opponent for the Denver Broncos. The moment that will always stand out in the series with the Tennessee Titans (then the Houston Oilers) is The Drive II.

It was Jan. 4, 1992, at Mile High Stadium in the AFC Divisional Playoffs. First-and-10 at the Broncos 2-yard line with a little over 2 minutes remaining and the Broncos trailing 24-23.

The rest is history given the name — The Drive II. John Elway led Denver to a miraculous 26-24 win and a trip to the AFC Championship Game.

That gets to the question, which “drive” was better?

Adam went with the Drive II, given that Elway and the Broncos had less time on the clock and no timeouts, when they had both in The Drive against the Cleveland Browns five years earlier. The other factor in Adam’s decision is the drive vs the Oilers won the game, when the drive vs the Browns tied the game.

As I stated at the beginning of the story, picking the best “drive” between The Drive and The Drive II is like picking your favorite dessert. Either way, they were incredible moments in Broncos and NFL history, and to witness both is still surreal.

What say you, Broncos Country?
