Two contenders square off on Monday night.
It only took half the season, but Monday night is finally providing some entertainment for football fans.
After Seattle and San Francisco took their NFC West battle to overtime in Week 10 and the Chiefs edged out the Chargers in Mexico City last week, the NFL has a third marquee matchup in as many weeks as the Baltimore Ravens square off against the Los Angeles Rams.
While the Ravens at 8-2 have exceeded the preseason expectations of many who had them pegged behind the Cleveland Browns back in August, the Rams have yet to find their footing after losing Super Bowl LIII to the Patriots.
For years, Baltimore’s defense was their calling card, but this season has them playing from a different deck.
Lamar Jackson has been an absolute dynamo this season. Through ten games, Jackson has 2,258 passing yards, 19 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions, and he’s also Baltimore’s top rusher gaining 781 yards and six rushing touchdowns on just 116 carries. He’s a top-two MVP candidate—and he ain’t second.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, has a quarterback problem. After signing Jared Goff to a 4-year, $134 million mega extension at the start of this season, the Rams offense has looked stuck in the mud and Goff’s numbers—11 touchdowns to 10 interceptions—are indicative of its lackluster production.
At the top of the AFC North, the Ravens are still playing for home field advantage and a bye while the Rams are dead set on correcting course and staying in the hunt for a playoff berth.
