Not a great sign early in the week
We’ve got the initial injury report for the week for the Minnesota Vikings as they prepare for Sunday’s clash with the Denver Broncos at U.S. Bank Stadium. There are a lot of names on the list, so let’s do the list first and then look a little deeper into things.
Did Not Practice
- G Josh Kline (concussion)
- DT Linval Joseph (knee)
- DT Shamar Stephen (knee)
- WR Adam Thielen (hamstring)
Limited Participation
- CB Mackensie Alexander (groin)
- S Anthony Harris (groin)
- C Brett Jones (knee)
- S Andrew Sendejo (groin)
- CB Trae Waynes (ankle)
Full Participation
- FB C.J. Ham (ankle)
- LB Eric Kendricks (hip)
- DE Ifeadi Odenigbo (shoulder)
- CB Xavier Rhodes (elbow)
- DT Armon Watts (elbow)
Remember not that long ago when we were talking about how short the Vikings’ injury list was? Yeah. . .probably shouldn’t have mentioned it, I guess.
Look at who didn’t practice today, I wouldn’t hold out much hope for anyone on the DNP list except for Stephen. Joseph and Thielen almost certainly won’t play on Sunday, and this is Kline’s second time in the concussion protocol this year, so I don’t think the Vikings should be counting on him, either. Stephen has been dealing with a knee issue for a few weeks now and hasn’t missed any significant time, so if any of the four DNPs could end up on the field by Sunday, it would probably be him.
The secondary is dealing with a lot of injuries, with five defensive backs making the report this week. We’ll be monitoring their status to see how they hold up over the next couple of days.
That’s your first injury report of the week for the Vikings, folks. Hopefully some of these guys will improve as we get closer to the final injury report on Friday.
