Cooley just reported that they will indeed switch to a 4-3 defense. No more players wearing numbers in the 90’s running 45 yards down field.

Going from Barry & Manusky to Rivera & Del Rio is going to change our lives.
— Redskins Realm (@SkinsRealm) December 31, 2019
Only way you don’t take Young is if you get a monster offer. This team is more than one player away, but you take em one at a time and you start with him.

Someone likely just lost their job at #Redskins Park based on the bad Schaffer report. Snyder setting all the rat traps in Ashburn right now #HTTR
— Full Press Redskins (@FPC_Redskins) December 31, 2019
If something indeed is going to happen with him, this is a pretty bad look for the organization. Has been a good employee for 17 years. Multiple Reports of ouster out before he’s told? Not good. https://t.co/2Ej8j4q7bR
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 31, 2019
This is nuts. On Monday, he told people without equivocation that he's out. He's apparently telling people he's still in. Sorry for the confusion. https://t.co/cwoASnLOgF

— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) December 31, 2019
So uh... looks like reports on both Santos and Schaffer were wrong. Both are still employed by team as of an hour ago https://t.co/iuTJCYVn3W
— Hogs Haven (@HogsHaven) December 31, 2019
On the status of Eric Schaffer, that was said to be a key issue entering Monday's meeting between Ron Rivera and Daniel Snyder. Schaffer was slated to have a major role but Rivera had to feel comfortable with that. He and Schaffer did not know one another.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) December 31, 2019
Furthermore, this heightens the need for Dan Snyder to answer questions.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 31, 2019
Most owners do a year end press conference and would certainly speak following changes like this. With the lack of clarity right now regarding important people, he should set the record straight.
So - A few nuggets on Del Rio:
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) December 31, 2019
- Well schooled in both the 4-3 and 3-4 D
- Very aggressive, attacking defense, with lot's of exotic blitzes.
- Disguises coverages well on the back-end but doesn't get to fancy - seems to stick with what works.
- Adapts scheme to fit his talent
Did some film watching on him a month or so ago for an article I did on some potential coaching candidates
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) December 31, 2019
The article I was doing was on HC - and for that I said no, but as a DC - 100% yes

Your organization might be in trouble when snagging Ron Rivera feels like the second coming of Vince Lombardi.

Ok no pictures for me but: I started the decade finishing up a crazy chaotic redskins season that resulted in a new coaching staff and FO. And I’m ending the decade...lord, my decade. https://t.co/70iqlTWOXC

I just discovered the craziest coincidence:

In 2002, the Panthers draft Julius Peppers #2 overall and hire Del Rio.
In 2012, the Broncos draft Von Miller #2 overall and hire Del Rio.
In 2020, the Redskins draft Chase Young (?) #2 overall and hire Del Rio. https://t.co/AsAK8YBP4y

OK so, I just asked the "computer folks" at @PFF if Dave Gettleman's claim is true that the #Giants "led the league in snaps by rookies." A "big analytics guy" checked the "software" and got back to me.

Football analytics has gone from being openly mocked to an essential prerequisite for every front office and coaching staff, not to mention major media.

Two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a future re-structure of the organization.
Just heard @BuckyBrooks make a great point on @ColinCowherd radio: with Freddie Kitchens and John Dorsey out in Cleveland, nobody there including Baker Mayfield, has an ally. All bets are off....This club needs a serious blueprint and somebody, anybody that will stick to it.

Even if the Browns do hire someone like Andrew Berry, the constant churning of management is a huge problem. Why should we expect the new front office to get more than a couple years to build something before the Browns just turn things over again?
