An update on Juan Thornhill

...and it’s not so good for the rookie.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie safety Juan Thornhill left the team’s game with the Los Angeles Chargers early in the second quarter with what appeared to be a left leg injury. Now we have an update from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Thornhill also tweeted shortly after he was ruled out.

After the game, Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark was asked about potentially losing Thornhill for the rest of the season.

“As a rookie, you got to understand that you’re going to go through these things if you want to get to the top,” said Clark. “It’s a long journey in the NFL to be one of those guys, as people say. So, for a guy like Juan, who has come in and been excellent for us — went through that rookie learning curve and now has been playing some excellent ball the last couple of weeks. But it hurts. It hurts. You don’t want to see one of the guys that you started the season off [with] go down like that. We just got to hold it down. We got a few guys that went down. We’ll just continue to hold it down for the guys that wend down and try to bring it home for them.”

Friend-of-the-site Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest said that Thornhill, who wouldn’t put weight on his knee as he left the game, could be seen in a brace.

The vibe is not good, but we should learn more on Monday.
