The Giants swept the weekly award
FedEx honored a pair of New York Giants Thursday for their performances in the Giants’ overtime win over the Washington Redskins last Sunday. Each week FedEx names an “Air” and a “Ground” player of the week for their performance in passing and running games, respectively.
This week the Giants swept the award.
Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones was named the FedEx “Air” player of the week, while runningback Saquon Barkley was named the “Ground” player of the week.
Jones earned the honors for his 352-yard, 5 touchdown effort, beating out Ryan Fitzpatrick and Drew Brees. Fitzpatrick threw for 419 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Dolphins’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals, while Brees had a 279-yard, 3 TD game in the Saints’ win over the Tennessee Titans.
On the other side of things, Barkley’s 189 yards and 1 touchdown earned him this week’s honors. Barkley beat out Arizona Caridnals’ running back Kenyan Drake, who had 166 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Cardinals win over the Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers’ running back Aaron Jones who had 154 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings.
As they do every week, FedEx will donate $2,000 to the USO on behalf of each winner.
Congratulations to both players, and hopefully they will be able to build on their performances against the Philadelphia Eagles
