The Saints lose a big piece of their defensive line
The Saints’ 48-46 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers came at an even steeper price than just the loss, as reports have surfaced that second-year defensive end Marcus Davenport is out for the season with a foot injury sustained during Sunday’s game.
#Saints DE Marcus Davenport suffered a significant foot injury in Sunday’s loss to the #49ers, sources tell me and @RapSheet. He’s expected to undergo season-ending surgery. A big loss for that defense.

Davenport had six sacks on the season (up from 4.5 sacks last year) and had been a mainstay on New Orleans’ defensive line, applying a lot of pressure on opposite quarterbacks.
Trey Hendrickson is the natural replacement for Davenport, but there are further reports that the Saints have been working out pass rushers.
New Orleans faces the Indianapolis Colts next Monday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints still have their eyes set on earning one of the two top seeds in the NFC with three games remaining in the regular season.
