As NFL teams prepare to finish out the 2019 regular season, with some already turning an eye to the offseason, the league reportedly informed teams that the projected salary cap will rise again next season. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the NFL’s projected salary cap will increase to around $196.8-$201.1 million next year, another significant sign of growth for the league. It marks the seventh consecutive year where the league’s projected salary cap will climb by more than $10 million from year-to-year. As detailed by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it will also mark a nearly 65% increase from the salary cap in 2011 with roughly an additional $76 million per club. It’s outstanding news as the NFL celebrates its 100th anniversary and heads into the final year of the NFL-NFL Players Association’s labor deal. Of course, it’s also great news for prospective free agents, like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
