NY Jets Helmet Stickers: Week 16

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

After another solid win, the Jets remind us that they’re good enough to beat a banged up, but quality team, but not good enough to beat anyone on any given Sunday. The Steelers have put together a solid season, but the loss of Big Ben, Antonio Brown, and Le’Veon Bell has decimated the offense. The loss of James Conner against the Jets made them hopelessly outgunned by a mostly good Jets defense. With the exception of a major slip up by Blessuan Austin, the Steelers offense was completely ruined by the Jets defense, leading to a few well deserved stickers.

Bronze Star: Foley Fatukasi (4 tackles, 1 sack)

Fatukasi has been a bright spot in an otherwise lost season for the Jets, developing more than any of us could have predicted. While this game accounts for his only sack on the season, he has provided a lot in run support and has held up well in his limited snaps. He’s been a nice surprise and put together another good game to earn another star.

Silver Star: Marcus Maye (4 tackles, 1 INT)

Maye has had a bit of a complicated season, sometimes flashing elite play, while maintaining a mostly above average level of play. This game falls into the elite category, as Maye tallied a beautiful end zone interception that ended a Steelers drive that could have changed the pace of the game. Maye and Adams make up an elite pair, giving fans something to be excited about going forward. Speaking of which...

Gold Star: Jamal Adams (8 tackles)

While the basic statline is unimpressive, Adams was a drive killer in this game. He recorded multiple TFLs and stopped several drives short of the sticks on third down. Adams is clearly the best player on the Jets with no room for debate. He’s arguably the most dangerous pass rusher on the team, he’s easily the best tackler, and has caused several turnovers that have resulted in multiple touchdowns. He’s not just the Jets best defender, he’s easily the team’s MVP.

So there you have it, sixteen weeks in and the table stands:

Jamal Adams 19 points (5 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze)

Le’Veon Bell 10 points (2 gold, 2 silver)

Sam Darnold 7 points (2 gold, 1 bronze)

Jamison Crowder 6 points (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze)

Steve McLendon 3 points (1 gold)
