The situation surrounding Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys will continue for yet another day. Garrett’s contract with the Cowboys is expiring. Jerry Jones declined to give the head coach an extension entering the season, which ended in disappointment as Dallas failed to make the playoffs. Garrett seemed like a certainty to lose his job, but three days after the end of the Cowboys’ season, he remains employed. While nobody is certain what is going on, the Dallas Morning News’ David Moore says Garrett will continue discussing his situation on Thursday with Jerry and Stephen Jones. It’s unclear what’s happening, but the events do seem to show how much Jerry loves Garrett and how hard it is to fire the coach. It’s possible that the talks are continuing so long because they’re trying to figure out a way to keep Garrett with the franchise in some capacity. There was a report on Monday saying the Cowboys were firing their entire coaching staff, but that hasn’t happened yet either.
