Jets great Winston Hill among those considered for a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the NFL, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct 20 individuals this year.

Five of them will go through the normal procedure. A blue ribbon panel convened today in Canton to deliberate the other 15 choices.

One former Jet is among those being considered for enshrinement. It is tackle Winston Hill.

Hill played for the Jets from 1963 through 1976. He was a key player on the only Jets championship team in history with a tremendous performance in Super Bowl III. Hill was later named to the AFL’s All-Time Second Team and was part of the Jets’ inaugural Ring of Honor class. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 74.

Hill has a lot of good competition for a Hall of Fame spot, but he would be a worthy member.

Of course I would be remiss if I failed to note that Joe Klecko is inexplicably absent from the list of finalists. Klecko made the Pro Bowl at three different positions. Hopefully one day those in charge will come to their senses and put him in.
