Steve Tasker fails to advance in final year of HOF eligibility

That stinks.

Buffalo Bills special teams ace Steve Tasker won’t be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020. He was eliminated in the cut down from 25 modern era semi-finalists to 15 finalists this week.

While this marks the seventh time Tasker has been a semifinalist, it was the first time since 2013 and it came in his final year of eligibility. His candidacy will now move to the Senior Committee.

Tasker absolutely deserves the honor of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They changed the rules because of how well he played his position and he was a transcendent player. Stats don’t measure his impact on the game.

Here are the final 15, of which five will be selected for induction: S Steve Atwater, OT Tony Boselli, WR Isaac Bruce, S LeRoy Butler, OG Alan Faneca, WR Torry Holt, OL Steve Hutchinson, RB Edgerrin James, S John Lynch, LB Sam Mills, S Troy Polamalu, DL Richard Seymour, LB Zach Thomas, WR Reggie Wayne, DT Bryant Young.

Cut alongside Tasker were LB Carl Banks, DB Ronde Barber, LB Clay Matthews, DE Simeon Rice, RB Fred Taylor, WR Hines Ward, RB Ricky Watters, LB Patrick Willis, and S Darren Woodson
