Arizona Cardinals history is not exactly teeming with positives.
In fact, it is one of the sadder histories in the NFL.
So, when you hear things from Michael Bidwill and Steve Keim about keeping great players like Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson for their entire career, it makes sense that they seem adamant about making sure that their career starts and ends in the desert.
Fitz and Peterson will go down as two of the best at their position to ever play, so making sure the entirety of the career is with the Cardinals.
If they do go somewhere else and break a record or tie a record or something, it won’t feature the Arizona Cardinals.
I get the idea, having the Cardinals logo in the entirety of NFL history is important, but it also reminds us that maybe the big picture is lost.
When you want to make your mark on the NFL, the best and most consistent way to do it is by winning.
So, when you are the losingest franchise in North American sports history, it’s hard to look at the winning side of things to make your mark.
Which means you end up focusing on the players.
It’s a cycle the Cardinals need to get out of.
But, it makes sense they are looking to keep both.
