Davis: Vikings “likely not considering” drafting Trevon Diggs

I bet you can guess why

During the early portions of this NFL offseason, one of the potential storylines for the Minnesota Vikings was whether or not they would reunite the Diggs brothers in April. After all, they had wide receiver Stefon Diggs in the fold, and his younger brother, Trevon, is considered to be a first-round prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Well, with the Vikings sending the elder Diggs to the Buffalo Bills prior to the start of free agency, that reunion wasn’t going to happen. Now, it doesn’t sound like Trevon Diggs will be coming to Minnesota, either.

NFL Network analyst Charles Davis (via St. Paul Pioneer Press reporter Chris Tomasson) has reported that Trevon Diggs is “likely not under consideration) as a selection for the Vikings in the upcoming draft.

On the surface, I suppose it makes sense. We don’t know everything that went on behind the scenes between Stefon Diggs and the Vikings before the trade to Buffalo happened, other than Diggs’ cryptic Twitter statements. It could very easily be that something (or things) transpired that have let the Vikings know that the younger Diggs would not welcome being selected by his brother’s former team.

Cornerback is a definite position of need for the Vikings, and Trevon Diggs is one of the top ones available in this year’s draft. However, the Vikings are reportedly going to try to head off another potential issue before it arises.

Is this the case? Well, we’ve only got about three more weeks until draft day, and then we can all find out.
