The next step

Trent Williams has been given permission to seek a trade by the Redskins. The two sides could not come to an agreement on a new contract, and it looks like they will finally move on.

Williams held out last year over concerns about the Redskins medical staff's treatment of a cancerous growth on his forehead that eventually got removed, and his lack of guaranteed money in the final two years of his contract.

Williams is reportedly looking to be paid like the top tackle in the league again which means at least $18+ million per year. Williams now has one year left on his contract after reporting before the trade deadline last season, and then being place on the Reserve NFI list by the team and not getting paid for 2019.

The Redskins were reportedly offered a 1st round pick by the Cleveland Browns last year, but Team President Bruce Allen wasn't listening to trade offers until it was too late. Will that offer still be on the table, or will the Redskins have to settle for a 2and round pick or a couple mid-rounders?
