Mathieu is donating 30,000 meals to KC families affected by the coronavirus.

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill started a rather philanthropic trend in Kansas City earlier this week when he donated 6,000 meals to the Kansas City community, challenging his teammates to do the same.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were first to respond to the challenge, making their own donations, and Tyrann Mathieu was the latest to do so on Friday.

In partnership with Harvesters food bank, Mathieu and the Tyrann Mathieu Foundation are donating 30,000 meals to families affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19).

“In an effort to help ease the burden and anxiety in this unpredictable time, I am committed in joining my teammates by donating 30,000 meals to the families in need,” said Mathieu in a statement. “It’s so important that everyone protect themselves, their loved ones and give back during this challenging time. I urge everyone to remain informed and remember that we are stronger together.”

Harvesters Food Bank is focused on providing additional food to pantries and mobile distributions to support families. During normal times, it costs approximately 25 cents per meal, but under the current circumstances, the cost is one dollar per meal – three times more than normal.
