The Raiders should be okay without him, but seven sacks are out the door

The Las Vegas Raiders have a fairly deep defensive ends group after signing Carl Nassib to add to Clelin Ferrell, Maxx Crosby, and Arden Key, so it is not surprising that on Wednesday they lost free agent Benson Mayowa on a one-year deal to the Seattle Seahawks. Mayowa had a career-high seven sacks with the Raiders last season, his first and only year in Oakland.

Mayowa returns to Seattle, which is where he signed after going undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Idaho. He played in two games that year and was picked up by the Raiders after being waived in 2014. Mayowa played in all 16 games that season, 12 the next, recording two sacks. He next had a two-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys, recording six sacks in 2016 with nine QB hits. Next, Mayowa played one year with the Arizona Cardinals, recording four sacks, before returning to the Raiders last season to support Ferrell and Crosby.

He played in 302 snaps on defense, 10 on special teams. The Seahawks gave Mayowa $3 million guaranteed with a max payout of $4 million.
