Top receivers dominating Raiders’ first pick
The smart folks at SBNation.com have scoured top mock drafts to try to get an idea of who will really get picked at — and at what spot — in the first round of the NFL draft later this month.
They searched a database of 59 mocks, which is being updated often.
Let’s examine what it looks like for the Raiders at pick No. 12. We will do the same thing a bit later with the No. 19 pick.
Here are the leading mock results for the Raiders at No. 12:
- Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb (35.6%)
- Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy (33.9%)
- Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III (15.3%)
My thoughts:
It’s not a shock at all. These are the leading three candidates at the moment. Receiver is the Raiders’ biggest current need and these are three blue chip prospects at the position. Sure, the Raiders could try add on defense, but the smart play here is receiver. I agree with the Lamb mocks at the moment. That’s who I think the Raiders’ are going to take, but, of course, you can’t rule out Jeudy or Ruggs, either. I just think Lamb best fits what the Raiders’ need at the position. But they can’t wrong here.
