Report: Giants checked in on Colgate's Abu Daramy-Swaray multiple times

One of the needs (or wants) on the New York Giants’ shopping list for this year’s NFL Draft is a returner who can add some impact.

They may have found their man, although he’s such a sleeper that they may not even have to use one their 10 selections on him. He might be available after the draft.

“The Giants have checked a couple times on Colgate’s Abu Daramy-Swaray, a defensive back and punt/kick returner who also ran track. (There’s another player with return ability on their radar),” writes Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. “The 5-9, 181-pounder boasts a 4.49 40-yard dash and in four seasons for the Raiders brought back 42 kicks for 874 yards and 70 punts for 650 yards and a touchdown. Big Blue let its top 2019 kick returner, Cody Latimer, sign in Washington. Corey Coleman and others will compete for the job, but the Giants could be the market for more.”

The Giants’ unofficial depth chart lists wide receiver Golden Tate and safety Jabrill Peppers as the punt returners, and defensive back Corey Ballentine and wideout Darius Slayton as the primary kickoff men.

It’s likely the Giants will be looking for a wide receiver in the draft and could seek one in the middle to late rounds that can also help in the return game. With former Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge now the Giants’ head coach and Thomas McGaughey returning to head the teams, Big Blue will continue to prioritize special teams.

Earlier in this offseason, they re-signed gunner Cody Core and brought in former Pats Pro Bowler Nate Ebner.
