Despite the unfortunate timing of his playoff injury, Wentz managed to have his moment in Philadelphia last year, going for 10 touchdowns and 1 interception over the final five games with a decimated receiving corps to push the Eagles into the playoffs. His history of gutting injuries shouldn’t unfairly skew the fact that, at age 27, he is locked into a manageable long-term deal with a good head coach and a roster that should rebound.
How Justin Jefferson could thrive in the Eagles’ offense - BGN
Recent rumors indicate Justin Jefferson is a favorite to end up in Philadelphia and people seem to be split on that. In 2019, the LSU receiver had the most catches of any top receiver (111) and the most touchdowns (18). Jefferson followed up his incredible season with a great combine performance where the 6’1”, 203 pounder ran a 4.43 40 yard dash and broad jumped over 10 feet. There is no question about Jefferson’s athleticism or ability to produce, so why is he so polarizing. Well, Jefferson only caught six passes last year lined up outside in 2019. LSU might have ran the offense through Jefferson, but he was getting his numbers out of the slot.

21. PHILADELPHIA. The Eagles, understandably, didn’t want to give up the 53rd overall pick for Brandin Cooks. Mocks from Caribou to Carlsbad will give Philly a wide receiver, and I probably will too, a week from today. Give me some time on that one.

Keene is a versatile piece who lined up all over the formation for Virginia Tech, and probably wasn’t used as much as he should have been in their offense (21-240-5 in 2019), given his good athleticism, soft hands, and ability to fight through tacklers for extra yardage.
Player Interest - Iggles Blitz
The biggest takeaway from this…the Eagles are showing serious interest in early LB targets. I’m not pushing the idea that they’ll take a LB at 21, but the team seems to be focused on adding speed and talent at that position. The Eagles are talking to good OT prospects. Does that mean they are hedging their bet with Andre Dillard? Maybe. The team could use a swing tackle, but you usually find that guy later in the draft.

I totally agree with you. Howie Roseman’s claim that the cupboard isn’t as bare as we think it is … not buying it. The Eagles don’t have any receivers they can really rely on right now. DeSean is 33 and coming off surgery. Alshon is 30 and we know his situation is murky as best. JJAW had a terrible rookie season. And Greg Ward deserves a chance but is he it? Look, I get that the prices of free agent receivers dropped after the Eagles spent that money elsewhere. But it just looks bad when guys like Breshad Perriman and Robby Anderson get pretty cheap deals elsewhere. The Eagles’ biggest need all offseason has been receiver and putting it all on the draft seems like a risky strategy. It’s also important to remember that the hit rate for receivers in the draft is a pretty low one and it can sometimes take them a few years to hit their peak. And this year, the Eagles won’t have much of an offseason and they have a new receivers coach. In order for the Birds to be successful, they have to surround Carson Wentz with at least viable weapons and they have failed to do that at receiver. It’s a concern.

Overall, Sanders worked as the PPR RB8 from Weeks 11-17. He possesses big-play ability as both a rusher and receiver while also displaying an elite level of savagery as a pass blocker. Sanders has top-10 RB ability ... assuming the Eagles don’t do anything too dramatic in the early rounds of the draft. It’s just tough to believe that coach Doug Pederson will break his career-long trend of embracing committee backfields. Yes, Sanders owns the top-three highest single-game snap rates from a RB under Pederson, but Scott was already starting to siphon away some pass-down work during the last month of the season. Sanders *should* work as the Eagles’ featured RB next season. Still, this will be a situation to monitor all the way through August in order to make sure Pederson doesn’t get crazy with another committee. I’m fine draft Sanders outside of the top-12 RBs, but anything higher seems a bit risky.

Making the move even more surprising was the fact that a division rival did the deal, with Washington sending the 37th overall pick in the 2010 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb.

Tom Brady is jumping in with both feet and fully embracing his move to Tampa Bay. I’m sorry, that was a typo. It should read “Tompa Bay.” Tampa Brady is also acceptable in this dark vision of reality. It’s difficult to even process how bad this is — I’ve been going back and forth whether this falls in the realm of “bad” or “so bad it’s good.” However, there is one clear marker that the phrase “Tompa Brady” is cursed — our own Eric Stephen.
