Records are meant to be broken, but this Hall of Fame running back doesn’t see anyone catching Emmitt Smith.

Tomlinson said on NFL Network that Emmitt Smith’s all-time record of 18,355 yards will never be broken. It wasn’t broken by Tomlinson, who retired with 13,684 yards, and he says it won’t be broken by Gore, who has 15,347 yards, or by Peterson, who has 14,216 yards. “No one will ever break this record,” Tomlinson said. “There’s not enough opportunities that running backs will get. We know the shelf life is a lot shorter for running backs. I just don’t see guys getting a lot of opportunities. That’s a lot of yards for a guy to amass and I just don’t think it’s going to happen.”

On Friday, the Cowboys legendary running back turned 51 years old. To honor him a look at 10 games that defined his career, including the infamous shoulder game.

In the second quarter of the game to determine the NFC East champion and top seed in the postseason, Smith blew through a hole in the line for a 46-yard pickup. But when New York safety Greg Jackson caught him from behind and rode him to the ground, Emmitt instantly felt the worst pain of his life explode through his right shoulder.

“All I knew was that my shoulder was jacked up,” Smith later recalled. “I could barely move my arm. I had no range of motion.” Emmitt ended the day with 229 all-purpose yards and had 42 total touches (still a club record) on the team’s 70 offensive plays. And he did much of it with one arm. His 168 ground yards gave Smith his third straight rushing title and helped him win league MVP honors for the 1994 season. The contest is still referred to most commonly as simply, “The Emmitt Smith Game.”

A group of 29 different voters compiled a list of players and coaches they feel should be in the Hall of Fame, including a snub Cowboys fans know all too well.

Drew Pearson: The former Cowboys wide receiver was stunned not to be included in the Blue Ribbon centennial class, as were many of his supporters. A first-team all-decade performer from the 1970s, Pearson is known as one of the great clutch receivers of all-time. Pearson wasn’t as flashy as some of the other receivers from his era, but he was an excellent route runner who consistently produced. He played on three Super Bowl teams.

A 5th-Round pick last year, Joe had a strong enough training camp and preseason to make the team. When Dallas needed to make room for Robert Quinn to join the roster in Week 3, the Cowboys opted to cut former 1st-Round pick Taco Charlton rather than lose Jackson. The numbers at defensive end last year didn’t afford him much playing time. Jackson only dressed for five games and played on just 6.6% of Dallas’ defensive snaps. But he still remained a solid developmental asset coming into his second season.

Which UDFA are you most excited about?

Dallas Cowboys fans should be excited about the addition of rookie first-round receiver CeeDee Lamb. Some analysts considered the Oklahoma product to be the top wideout in this draft class, and he should add another explosive element to Dallas’ offense.

Fans should also be happy about the addition of undrafted Michigan tight end Sean McKeon. While McKeon won’t have quite the same immediate impact as a guy like Lamb, he can help fill the role vacated by longtime Cowboy Jason Witten. McKeon isn’t the most explosive pass-catcher, but he can provide an outlet on underneath and intermediate routes.

“His routes don’t feature much burst to separate against dedicated coverage,” NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein wrote of McKeon. “However, he plays with good catch focus when working the soft spots of zones.”

Giants’ DeAndre Baker, Seahawks’ Quinton Dunbar turn themselves in on armed robbery charges - Cameron Wolfe, ESPN

Trouble is looming for a couple NFC defensive backs.

New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar turned themselves in to the Broward County Jail on Saturday to satisfy arrest warrants in connection to an alleged robbery in Miramar, Florida, this week. Baker’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, said he has several affidavits from witnesses exonerating Baker of wrongdoing in the alleged crime. He said he plans to present those along with video evidence to the judge at the appropriate time.

Baker and Dunbar were wanted by police over an alleged incident that took place late Wednesday night at a party. According to the arrest warrant, Baker and Dunbar are accused of stealing money and watches with force while armed with semiautomatic firearms. It states that Baker intentionally threatened victims with a firearm.

Luckily for the Redskins, they won’t have to deal with this ordeal after a fortuitous trade sent Dunbar to Seattle.

Back in March after Washington moved the talented cornerback, many fans were alarmed that the Redskins got just a fifth-rounder in return for Dunbar. Sources told NBC Sports Washington then that there were no better offers, and after Dunbar demanded a trade or to be released, Rivera simply did not want to deal with the situation anymore. Around the league, Dunbar was not held in the same regard as some in Washington viewed the corner, plus he was in the last year of his contract and had missed playing time in consecutive seasons with injuries.

Now, there are no complaints about the Dunbar trade.

Breaking news: Eagles fans are whining about something again.

Since Thursday Night Football began in 2006, the Cowboys have played just two Thursday road games … and neither were on short rest because they previously played on Thanksgiving the week before. By comparison, the Eagles have played FIVE Thursday night away games on short rest in that same span. Zero versus five. Not exactly even!

It’s completely understandable that the Eagles wouldn’t want an NFC East division rival (the Cowboys) and an NFC conference opponent (the Lions) to have an unnecessarily unfair advantage over them. What’s so hard about Dallas and Detroit rotating home and away each season? It’d be cool to allow other cities to host Thanksgiving games more often, too.
