Running backs need some sort of performance-based pay as part of the initial contract. And I'm not sure how you negotiate that as a union that's supposed to represent players at every position.

ESPN put together a re-draft of the entire NFL, and the Redskins had the second pick. They took Russell Wilson over Lamar Jackson.

What if, instead of ESPN’s thing, 32 of us got together and did our own NFL wide open draft?

COVID tests, reconfigured locker rooms, virtual meetings, pre-packaged meals: NFL releases its preliminary protocols for what it will look like when players return to work. | @TheAthleticNFL https://t.co/7VFycq4eNU

In speaking with a few teams; they’re disappointed in joint practices being canceled. While they understand the rationale, joint practices have become increasing popular because you can get a lot of competitive work completed against an opponent in a controlled environment.

Just had a chance to read part of the NFL's agreed upon protocols (posted by @AlbertBreer) for return to full-functioning facility operations during the current pandemic. Here are my initial thoughts. 1/
— DocFlynn (@jessdeede) June 8, 2020
Are these changes feasible? With deep pockets, much of this is. Re-vamp ventilation systems, build out new locker room space (esp w training camp numbers), move activities outdoors. Masks will be tough – anyone who has tried to run in a mask on a hot day can attest. 3/
— DocFlynn (@jessdeede) June 8, 2020
The protocol requires clubs to have a min 2-wk supply of PPE. Daily I hear from doctors across the country who still only have 0-1 n95 masks, no face shields or gowns, limited testing. With deep pockets, the NFL will out-bid medical professionals for PPE and testing. 5/
— DocFlynn (@jessdeede) June 8, 2020
Unfortunately, there isn't a good test for screening asymptomatic people. In a recent analysis of multiple nasal swab accuracy studies, it was found that there was a 38% false negative rate of tests done on day #1 of symptoms, which isn't very good. 7/
— DocFlynn (@jessdeede) June 8, 2020
The reality is that the NFL will experience positive cases, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms. We haven't seen what teams will do with a positive case, how many cases it takes to shut down a team, or what happens to the rest of the league if/when that happens. 9/

There's still so much we don't know, but I'm hopeful that our fight against COVID will continue to strengthen with each passing week. NFL athletes face many physical risks when they step onto the field, but I doubt any of them thought they'd be trying to sidestep a virus. 11/END
