Unit could be elite in 2020
On Monday, Pro Football Hall of Fame member Gil Brandt — one of the most respected front-office people in league history — tweeted his thoughts about the league’s top offensive lines going into 2020.
The Raiders made his list:
Was thinking about the best offensive lines in the NFL. These are the six I came up with. How would you rank them, and who am I missing?

49ers
Colts
Cowboys
Raiders
Rams
Saints
Having a legend like Brandt saying the Raiders have one of the top six offensive lines in the NFL is a big deal. That’s elite territory.
I certainly can see why Brandt included the Raiders in this group. The unit had a great bounce-back season in 2019. It allowed 29 sacks last season after surrendering 52 sacks in 2018, the unit also blocked well on run plays.
This is an experienced, well-paid group. Left tackle Kolton Miller has the lowest salary-cap number of the five starters on the line at $3.6 million.
The one thing that worries me about this group is the possibility of injuries. Tackle Trent Brown and guard Gabe Jackson each missed five games last season.
Yet, if this unit can stay relatively healthy, it should be a strength of the team and it should make Brandt’s thoughts look on point, which they usually are.
