- Browns add Riley Hecklinski, Kathleen Wood in scouting roles (Beacon Journal) - The Browns have continued to provide women with opportunities to work in football. The organization this month hired Riley Hecklinski as a full-time scouting assistant in its research department and Kathleen Wood as a scouting fellow, a team spokesman confirmed Saturday.
- Denzel Ward’s father passed down a name, and a gift (cleveland.com) - On Paul Ward Jr.‘s sixth birthday, in September 1975, they buried his father. In that loss, a boy found his calling. What was lacking, he would provide. What was missed, he would become. What was learned, he would pass on.
- Browns recent free-agent history includes some hits — but mostly misses (The Athletic) - Dwayne Bowe was bad. Kenny Britt wasn’t any better. That we can’t leave Donte’ Stallworth out of the above discussion really says it all about the Browns and free agency. Yikes.
- ESPN’s Jake Trotter talks OSU’s AJ Green to Browns (Fox 25) - Former OSU Cowboy A.J. Green went from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs during NFL Draft week. After losing his Dad unexpectedly and going undrafted, Green signed with the Cleveland Browns. It was a history-making deal for the franchise, and one ESPN reporter Jake Trotter says the Browns were eager to make following Green’s four years in Stillwater.

- Jim Kiick, standout Miami Dolphins running back on dominant 1970s teams, dies at 73 (Sun Sentinel) - Jim Kiick, a key part of the Miami Dolphins’ three-pronged running attack during their rise to prominence in the early 1970s, has died at 73, the Miami Dolphins announced on Saturday evening.
- Redskins to retire No. 49 of Bobby Mitchell, HOFer and team’s first black player (ESPN) - The Washington Redskins will retire the number worn by Bobby Mitchell, the first African American player in their history, who died earlier this year. The move, which a source said had been in the works for a while, comes one day after the statue of former Redskins owner George Preston Marshall, the last NFL owner to integrate his roster, was removed from outside of the team’s former home.
- Trent Williams signs restructured deal with 49ers, passes physical (NFL.com) - Trent Williams has a new deal in San Francisco. Well, new-ish. The veteran left tackle signed a revised contract with the 49ers on Friday, just under two months after being traded by the Washington Redskins, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The deal allows Williams to advance half of his 2020 cash and guarantee it, Rapoport added, per a source.
- Could Seahawks have the NFL’s best running back group in 2020? (mynorthwest.com) - It’s well known that head coach Pete Carroll loves for the Seahawks to run the ball. Typically, the team is in the top 10 in the entire NFL for rushing yards. But going into 2020, the Seahawks have arguably the best running back depth they’ve ever had since Carroll took over in 2010.
