2. Buy your Boston Scott stock now. The Eagles don’t believe how Scott played in December was a mirage or simply a hot streak, but rather an indication he can be a weapon for the offense. Whenever they are on the field for training camp, Scott won’t be competing for a roster spot; he’ll be competing for more of an offensive role. That’s how the Eagles view him. Scott averaged 87.5 yards from scrimmage during the final four games of the regular season, proving himself as a complementary running back to Miles Sanders. It was his first shot at an offensive role in the NFL. It won’t be his last.

Perceived camp battles that probably aren’t. Avonte Maddox vs. Sidney Jones: Maddox will almost certainly be the starting CB2 opposite Darius Slay. Jalen Mills and Rodney McLeod will be the starters at safety, barring injuries elsewhere. K’Von Wallace has a chance to contribute as a rookie, but he’ll be behind Mills and McLeod to start.

Jalen Reagor was a tough, aggressive player at TCU. That school has their share of good players, but they tend to be overachiever types more than 5-star recruits who go and excel. Reagor also has the advantage of having a father who played in the NFL. Jalen will have a better idea of what to expect and the mental toughness you need to have. King puts the Cowboys at 9th in his rankings. He thinks the division will come down to the late PHI-DAL game, as it did last year. This is a talented Eagles team. I hope we don’t lose sight of that when talking about the holes and potential flaws. This team could go anywhere from 6-10 to 12-4, depending on how things play out.

Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz and Jason Kelce are among the group of Eagles who have released statements in the wake of George Floyd’s killing and subsequent protests around the country, using their platform to speak out against institutional racism and racial injustice. Speaking to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark on Tuesday, DeSean Jackson made it clear that he’s proud of his high-profile white teammates. “They stepped up. They made their voice be heard,” Jackson said. “They used their platform, they used their resources, they used everything they could do to reach out and say I might not know what it feels like to be racially profiled, I might not know what it’s like to grow up in the inner communities and these areas that you guys face on a daily basis, where we’re scrutinized for the color of our skin.

Overall, I think Reagor is a skilled, explosive playmaker who can stretch the field vertically while also taking short passes or handoffs for big gains, using his sudden cuts and quick acceleration to juke defenders and get yards after the catch. I expect him to have just as much utility in the screen game as he does stretching the field. His biggest problem is his drop rate, which will need to improve in the NFL if he is to become a trusted target of Carson Wentz.

And the image put in my mind is like a weighted vest, and if I can put it in football terms to help you understand it better, you know, I’ve been in a lot of offenses and I’ve changed offensive coordinators every year of my career, and when you go into an offseason and you’re learning the name of the formation, the name of the play, you’re not really focused on how to attack the defense, you’re just focused on what you’re doing. And if you’re competing against another quarterback and maybe he’s been in that system awhile, he’s attacking the defense. So he’s getting out of bed with a leg up everyday because he understands who he’s attacking, he’s not studying the playbook. I was studying the playbook, I was just trying to know the stinkin’ play so I can get out of the huddle whereas he’s steps ahead of me, and I think it’s the same thing: the weighted vest.

Damion Square announced his re-signing by the Chargers - Bolts From The Blue
Square has been with the Chargers since the 2014 season. After entering the NFL in 2013 as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Square spent also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs before finding a home with the Chargers. After seeing no game time in first season in San Diego, Square has since made 23 career starts for the Bolts. [BLG Note: This 2013 Eagles UDFA signing is still hanging on in the NFL. Good for him.]

Three Cowboys who could be unexpected keys to the season - Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys continued their use of picks to bolster the offensive line when they traded up to get the last pick of the fourth round, taking center Tyler Biadasz. Dallas had a hole there with the unfortunate retirement of Travis Frederick. They also have some questions to answer at left guard. Now, with incumbent LG Williams, McGovern, Joe Looney, and Biadasz, the team has more than one way to go in sorting out the two positions. Biadasz was widely seen to be a first-round talent before his 2019 season at Wisconsin, but he was hampered by injury. That allowed him to fall in range for the Cowboys to grab. If he has recovered, his pedigree means he could be the starting center. He might not win the job to start the season, but he could well ascend to it before the year ends. The team clearly hopes he is the center of the future.

Washington franchise should change its name now - PFT
This won’t be a universally popular opinion, but the time for caring about making everyone happy and/or pissing off the fewest number of people has ended. As the NFL and its teams look for a way to transform words into actions, a simple, easy, and clear path to change for professional football would come from an immediate change to the name of the Washington franchise.

Report: NFL optimistic about full training camps amidst talk of lowered salary cap - DraftKings Nation
NFL training camp starts in just under two months time, and the league is moving forward with plans on having full training camps. The league told teams they will be required to remain at their own facilities, which will preclude a host of teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers from traveling for camp as they regularly do. The league is optimistic full training camps will occur, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. However, Fowler is hearing the NFL could move dates around and/or shorten the preseason to fit in camp. The financial value of preseason games to the owners is sufficiently limited that cutting back on it anyway has been a topic of conversation for some time.

Longtime NFL reporter/insider Josina Anderson is out at ESPN, The Post has learned. The move with Anderson has been anticipated since the Super Bowl when it was first reported that she and ESPN could be parting ways. The official move with Anderson is unrelated to any cutting of personnel related to the coronavirus’ economic impact on Disney and ESPN. ESPN declined comment, while Anderson did not return messages.

A tweet from UCLA football coach Chip Kelly about the social unrest that has gripped the nation over the last week sparked a rebuke from two former Bruins players who criticized the way Kelly treated African Americans on his team. Kelly did not mention George Floyd, the African American man who died May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck as he was handcuffed and on the ground, saying he couldn’t breathe and pleading for help. Instead, the coach referred to the fallout that has included nationwide protests that have turned violent in some instances.

How to be a good white ally, according to activists - Vox
There are good ways — and there are less good ways — to be a white ally right now. Do take cues from black leaders and create space for their voices to be heard. Don’t think a performative emotional post on Instagram about your knowledge of racism does the trick. Do not center your feelings during this time of social unrest — an uprising that’s about racist violence against black Americans. “Antiracism is about doing and not just knowing,” said Leslie Mac, an activist and a community organizer.
