Merry Monday, everyone!

Well, that was an unexpected addition to the Vikings defense over the weekend. The team added a young, very talented player who is going to continue to become an even better player. Having Yannick Ngakoue (I’m going to have to look up the spelling on that, no matter how long he plays here, and I’ll probably never learn how to pronounce it) and Danielle Hunter at the edges of that D-line should give opposing QBs nightmares for years to come.

Little fishin’ has his first day of school today, so I’m heading in to work a bit late, as I’ll hang out at home so that we can walk him over to school (living next door to a good school is nice, at least for the next five years). I know this gets said by every parent, but the reason every parent says it is because it’s true: Man, they sure do grow up fast.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared the announcement that the Vikings had acquired Yannick Ngakoue in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars...........

Then he shared reactions to the trade..........

Then Wludford discussed why Ngakoue makes sense for the Vikings.........

Then the Vikings and Ngakoue agreed to a restructured deal.

In non-Ngakoue Vikings news, the team moved Dan Chisena from receiver to safety, per Chris. I’m guessing there won’t be quite as much excitement surrounding that move as their was for the trade, but that’s just a guess.

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

Over at Vikings.com, Zimmer talks about the potential impact Ngakoue could have on the defense, catch highlights from yesterday’s training camp, and there’s much more to look through in the media vault.

According to CBS Sports, there was another team interested in Ngakoue before the Vikings made their trade. Like they say, you snooze, you lose.

The power of positivity brought Teddy Bridgewater all the way back, from ESPN. I’ll always remain one of that kid’s biggest fans.

We come to today’s media selection:

Let’s take a look at the newest Vikings, here’s a video full of 2019 Yannick Ngakoue highlights. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer|
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t wash your hands, touch each other’s faces often, and try the finger food
