Nick Vannett speaks highly of Broncos tight ends coach Wade Harman

NFL: NFC Wild Card-Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

From Vannett’s description, it’s clear why the Broncos kept Harman this year to coach the tight ends.

The Broncos newest tight end Nick Vannett joined Broncos Country Tonight to talk about how the offseason has been going so far, and gave rave reviews for his new tight ends coach, Wade Harman.

“He’s a really great coach,” Vannett said. “He really hammers the X’s and O’s on top of the techniques to know about the tight end position. He’s just a true teacher of the game, and it’s always nice to have a coach like that - someone you know is going to help you out......whenever you have questions, he’s going answer in a way that you understand. We’ve been off to a great start with him so far.”

Hearing this about Harman makes it clear why Vic Fangio and Pat Shurmur chose to keep him, even though he came to Denver to be a part of Rich Scangarello’s staff. Vannett’s description fits perfectly with what Fangio has said he wants in all of his coaches since day 1 - that they be teachers, and really focused on growing and developing their players.

Harman not only has Vannett, who signed this offseason with the Broncos, but also first round pick Noah Fant to develop so he can reach his full potential. It’s encouraging to hear that he seems very up to the task.

Which is something Noah Fant voiced when he first came to Denver last year:

“I think Coach Harman is a great coach. Being coached by him today, being through meetings with him, learning the offense, I learn very easily from him. He does a good job teaching. I’m definitely excited for my future here and I’m definitely looking forward to being coached by him in the future.”

Jeff Heuerman also echoed similar thoughts about his coach when he was in Denver:

“He’s awesome and a great coach. He’s a really technical coach. He knows a lot of tight end technical stuff which is really good. He’s teaching us a lot in that room so we’re excited to have him.”

I’m excited to see this tight end group, particularly Fant, continue to grow under Harman’s tutelage.

Our own Adam Malnati joined Ryan and Ben to talk about the status of the college football season, and his thoughts on where Denver goes from here at right tackle. Check it out below.
