Corey Clement, RB, Eagles. Miles Sanders’ and Boston Scott’s lower body injuries have reportedly pushed Clement into first-string reps at practice. Relegated to special teams behind Jordan Howard and Darren Sproles last year, Clement is only one season removed from corralling 90 touches under coach Doug Pederson as an entrusted committee back. Scott, who Clement would seemingly be replacing if the former’s week-to-week injury lingers, saw six targets in all three games behind Sanders in Weeks 14-16, additionally handling nine touches on 28% of Philadelphia’s offensive snaps in its Wild Card deficit to Seattle. Seven wide receivers?! Yep, they’re all deserving of making the team. Jackson looks as good as ever. Reagor is going to contribute from the jump. JJAW looks improved heading into Year 2 and could split time at X with Reagor. Some have suggested Ward isn’t a lock to make the team but I can’t agree; he’s taken almost all of the first team slot reps. Hightower seems to have a well-rounded game and is making highlight catches in practice; perhaps he could have a bigger role than expected. Watkins has flashed with his deep speed and could be the kick returner. Burnett regularly stands out in practice; there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s earned a spot on the Eagles’ roster. Marcus Green and Travis Fulgham have both made plays in camp so I have them on the practice squad.

Still, the level of concern at the position is easily the highest it has been since the start of the Doug Pederson era. To begin, the offensive linemen on the Eagles’ roster after the starting five — a collection that includes Mailata, Herbig, Jack Driscoll, Prince Tega Wanogho, Luke Juriga, Sua Opeta, and Julian Good-Jones — have a combined grand total of three offensive NFL snaps played. That’s particularly troubling when you consider that Peters (38 years, 220 days), Kelce (32 years, 298 days), and Johnson (30 years, 113 days) are all a year older, thus more prone to injury and/or decline in quality of play. It should also maybe be noted here that Johnson hasn’t been seen in a week at training camp after he was labeled as “day to day” with a “lower body injury.”

He notched 79 snaps last season and another 69 as the starting right guard in the playoff loss to Seattle, after Brooks suffered a shoulder injury in the regular-season finale at the Giants. The team had a chance to make Pryor the 2020 starter at right guard when Brooks tore his left Achilles, and it reached for Peters instead. Now the coaches would rather see Pryor at left tackle than Peters? Seems unlikely. “Right now, they haven’t really made a decision” on who will play left tackle, Pryor said. “I’m comfortable wherever the coaches put me.”

The conversation between those two teams is closely tied to their quarterbacks — Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott — who have each been the quarterback held in higher esteem at various points in their career. Matt Pryor: Another third-year player who had some game experience last season at right guard when Brooks was injured – Pryor started and played well in the postseason loss to Seattle – Pryor has taken reps this summer at right guard, right tackle, and left tackle. And now he’s in the mix to start somewhere – right guard if Peters goes to left tackle and even, as Pederson said on Saturday, left tackle itself. All of a sudden, Matt Pryor and his versatility is giving him a chance to be a full-time starter. “He’s had a consistent camp,” Pederson said or Pryor. “He’s another one that’s got game experience for us, so that goes a long way for him.”

Of those 65 players who spent time on the Eagles’ 53-man roster during the 2017 season, 23 are no longer in the NFL. Of the 23 players who left the Eagles after either the 2017 or 2018 seasons and went to another team, only three are still with that team — Patrick Robinson with the Saints, Steven Means with the Falcons and Jordan Hicks with Arizona. Only Hicks has made a significant impact with his new team. There are 20 players on the Eagles’ roster who have been here since 2017. Seventeen of them played in the Super Bowl.

So far this offseason and preseason, we have seen a few Atlanta Falcons’ players placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Since then, they’ve all returned and the team’s precautions have caused the positive cases to remain low within the organization. Today, the Falcons announced that they’ve placed defensive end Steven Means on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This doesn’t necessarily mean Means has tested positive, as he could just be quarantined for possible contact with someone who may have the illness.
Trey Burton helped off after calf injury - PFT
Tight end Trey Burton was limited to eight games with the Bears last season and he may have to make it back from another injury with the Colts this season. According to multiple reports, Burton had to be helped off the field at Saturday’s practice. He appeared to injure his left leg or ankle and was not able to put weight on that side as he was helped to the sideline.
Stefen Wisniewski relegated to backup duties, ready to start if called upon - Behind The Steel Curtain
In free agency the Steelers added two-time Super Bowl champion Stefen Wisniewski to their roster. Wisniewski has the position flexibility to play all three interior line positions, and could be a starter if called upon. By now you know Mike Tomlin and company have decided to move Feiler to guard, and that seems to remain their main direction entering the 2020 regular season. When Wisniewski met with media via Zoom call on Friday, he admitted right now he is looking at a role which is strictly as a backup for Feiler, David DeCastro and Maurkice Pouncey.
