Broncos vs Patriots updated odds put Denver as big underdogs in Week 6

NFL: Oakland Raiders at New England Patriots Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos get a Bye Week inserted into the past and now face a New England Patriots team likely to have their roster back healthy in Week 6.

The Denver Broncos received an unexpected Bye in Week 5, but will still play the New England Patriots in Week 6. The starting rosters on both teams could look a lot different too. Cam Newton could likely return to the lineup for the Patriots, while Drew Lock is also in play for a return for the Broncos.

According to SportsBetting.com, the Broncos will be 9.5 to 10-point underdogs to the Patriots this week with an over/under at 45. The seesaw line initially opened double digits, then fell to just 3.5-points when Cam was likely to be out in Week 5. However, with the postponed game the line is back up to double-digits in favor of the home team. The line is just one point short of where it opened long ago before all the COVID-19 outbreaks in the Patriots locker room.

With the return of Newton likely, I give the edge to the Patriots here to win outright. However, if Lock also returns then I’d likely take Denver to cover. I’d also take the under in this one has both defenses are fairly stout. My score prediction with both Cam and Drew playing is the Patriots 23, Broncos 20. If Drew doesn’t play then I don’t think the score will be very close and the Broncos won’t likely cover here.
