Baker Mayfield and Jarvis Landry will play through injuries; plus, the Bengals are missing their top cornerback.
Here is the injury report for the Cleveland Browns’ Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals:
Quick Hitters
- As reported earlier today, the surprising news for the Browns this week is that starting TE Austin Hooper is out after having an appendectomy. My expectation is that Harrison Bryant will get the start, but it’ll be interesting to see who the No. 2 tight end primarily is — David Njoku or Stephen Carlson?
- The two other Browns players out are OG Wyatt Teller and LB Jacob Phillips. Neither player practiced this week, but because they haven’t been placed on IR, there is hope that they can go the following week.
- SS Karl Joseph is coming off of a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable. However, since he was a full participant in Friday’s practice, the expectation is that he will play. S Ronnie Harrison is also back from his concussion, so we’ll see how the playing time gets distributed between Joseph and Harrison.
- Players are still banged up on the Browns in general, even if they aren’t listed as questionable. For example, WR Jarvis Landry is playing with a broken rib.
- The big injury news with the Bengals is that starting RB Joe Mixon and CB William Jackson are both out. RB Giovani Bernard will get the start, but with Cincinnati’s offensive line issues, he’s been a non-factor on the ground for years. His strength has still been as a receiver and a blocking back. Jackson has been the Bengals’ best cornerback, both against the run and the pass. That creates a nice advantage for Cleveland.
