Ravens to sign WR Michael Floyd

A busy day on the transaction sheet for Baltimore continues, as the Ravens are apparently bringing in wideout Michael Floyd:

It’s been an interesting (and very busy) week at the castle as Eric DeCosta has been adding players left and right. Starting with Pernell McPhee and Shane Ray to shore up the outside linebacking corps, he’s now dipping back into the market to throw a wideout into the mix.

Floyd, 29, has bounced around the league the last few years after a promising start with the Arizona Cardinals who drafted him in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He most recently played in Washington where he managed 100 yards receiving and one touchdown over 13 games.

This feels like yet another low cost investment that is worth making by the front office. While the wide receiving corps has seen some improvement so far this offseason, it still lacked depth and the typical veteran experience.

While there’s no guarantee Floyd even makes the team, it is worth taking a shot on a guy who’s had success in the league before, especially considering wideout has been a problematic position for Baltimore historically.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated if signings continue to take place. There have been rumblings that DeCosta may not be done just yet.
