He’s missed the Vikings’ last three games
With Sunday night’s loss to the Chicago Bears firmly in the rearview mirror, it sounds like, if he has his way, the Minnesota Vikings will be getting another part of their defense back in time for another big Sunday Night Football matchup in the NFC North.
On Monday, linebacker Anthony Barr made the declaration that he will be playing on Sunday Night against the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium. We’ll have to see if the coaching staff agrees with his assessment, but according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Barr was very close to playing at Soldier Field against the Bears.
“I felt good,” Barr said. “I’ve just got to be smart. I’ve got to understand. I don’t want to be a liability out there if I don’t feel 100 percent.”
Barr wouldn’t elaborate on what went into the final decision for him to sit out the Bears game.
“I’m not going to get into all that,” he said. “It’s over and done with. We can move past that.”
Barr has not suited up since the Vikings’ victory over the New York Jets back in Week 7, the game in which he suffered his hamstring injury. That cost him games against the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions, in addition to last night’s loss against Chicago.
After having a rough first month of the season, Barr appeared to be rounding into form a bit prior to his injury. Eric Wilson has played relatively well in Barr’s spot, but it will be nice to see #55 back on the field for a stretch run that the Vikings will need to have all hands on deck for.
Barr’s health situation is obviously something that we’ll be monitoring throughout the week, starting with the Vikings’ first injury report on Wednesday afternoon.
