Pro Football Focus has inside information on how individual Houston players performed in the loss to Philadelphia.
Pro Football Focus grades every player on every play in every game. I dig their raw number totals and have other opinions on their ability to grade individual plays. You may feel differently. No matter how you feel, there’s always something to learn from the work they do. This is what PFF had to say about the Texans’ loss to the Eagles.
OFFENSE:
—Deshaun Watson continued his hot streak against the Eagles, earning an 86.9 overall grade, which ranked fourth-best among quarterbacks in Week 16. Watson earned an 88.2 overall grade when under pressure, completing nine of 13 attempts for 132 yards and one touchdown for a 127.7 passer rating when facing pressure. The second-year quarterback also produced a passer rating of 125.6 on his deep passing attempts, completing three of his seven attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown.
—DeAndre Hopkins continues be the most dominant receiver in football, boasting a 92.1 overall grade on the season that ranks first among all receivers. He went over 100 yards for the sixth time this season, reeling in nine of his 12 targets for 104 yards. He didn’t find the end-zone, but consistently moved the sticks, converting seven first-downs on the day. Barring a horrendous Week 17 performance, Hopkins should finish as PFF’s highest-graded receiver this season.
DEFENSE:
—Benardrick McKinney had another great game this week, earning an 87.7 overall grade, which was the second-highest among all Texans’ players this week. He was targeted five times and allowed just one catch for three yards, while intercepting a pass and breaking up another, good for a passer rating of 0.0 when targeted.
—Jadeveon Clowney (93.3) had his highest-graded game of the season against the Eagles this past weekend. Clowney recorded eight total pressures and an impressive seven defensive stops. He was second among all edge defenders in overall grade, run-defense grade (90.8) and pass-rushing grade (91.6).
