Winner and Losers after the loss at home to the New York Jets

Robert Foster is the only winner for the week since he's the only one who had a good game offensively

Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets was, by and large, a forgettable one for the fans. For Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane, it’s a game that should be kept in the back of their minds as they inch closer to revamping the roster for next season. The Buffalo Bills have a lot of holes on their roster and it showed. Outside of Robert Foster, who is surprisingly one of the biggest weapons the Bills have on offense right now, there wasn't much to be excited about.

Winners

WR Robert Foster

For the second time in three games, Foster had over 100 yards receiving. From a question-mark-to-make-the-team to the second receiver is quite the jump for an undrafted rookie in such a short period of time. He’s becoming more than just a deep threat, and the connection he has with Josh Allen seems to be getting better every week. With some of the other pass-catchers struggling to hold onto the ball, Foster became the most reliable target for Allen yesterday. His stock on the Bills’ roster continues to rise.

Losers

Pretty much everyone else

Let’s start this off with the offensive line. Without Josh Allen padding the rushing stats, the Bills ran the ball 22 times for 75 yards. If you take away the two, “long” runs they had—one by Chris Ivory and the other being the touchdown from Isaiah McKenzie—those numbers read 20 rushes for 45 yards (yikes). On top of that, Allen was under pressure on more than 50% of the time he dropped back to pass, which was most in the NFL this week. The offensive line was abysmal and that area of the roster should be priority number-one going into the off-season.

The pass rushers were no better. Jerry Hughes, Trent Murphy and Shaq Lawson were almost non-existent in getting after Sam Darnold and forcing him into bad decisions. Not a single sack was recorded for the Bills yesterday, and it looked like there was only one applied pressure from the defensive front.

Andre Roberts, the kick returner for the Jets, had 176 yards in returns yesterday and gave the Jets a short field multiple times. Danny Crossman’s special-teams unit has been below-average all season. I would be shocked if he holds that position for another season.

Zay Jones struggled to catch the ball yesterday, Tre’Davious White didn’t look like his usual self and Josh Allen made some decisions that high school coaches will tell a freshman quarterback not to make. Those rookie mistakes should get fixed with time but, for now, it leaves us scratching our heads.
